The Role

Edmonton Kenworth Ltd. is recruiting for a Health and Safety Advisor (Maternity Leave Coverage) for our Leduc location.  The Health and Safety Advisors primary focus is to provide corporate oversight of all organizational Safety programs in all of EKW’s facilities. The position will be the corporate authority towards ensuring that the company adheres to legislated provincial OH&S regulations. This includes support and recommendations to management, supervisors, foremen and employees. This role will be accountable for ensuring that safety programs are implemented in accordance with applicable legislation and are legally defensible under scrutiny. This position will provide leadership and coordination of the day-to-day safety and operational requirements of EKW.  This position can stop work in a dept/facility should the need arise or if there is a serious incident that requires immediate attention.


The position is responsible for developing, planning and implementing corporate safety policies and procedures in compliance with OH&S legislation. The incumbent will chair the various corporate Safety Committees and communicate safety related bulletins, while updating and providing feedback to the organization. The ideal candidate must be able to perform audits, safety inspections, investigations, tool box meetings, prepare written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive actions where applicable.   The position must follow up to ensure measures have been implemented in a timely fashion across the organization.



The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of

  • Minimum of 3 years related experience with breadth and depth of health and safety duties
  • Relevant post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety
  • Good standing designation of CSP or CRSP or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of applicable OH&S legislation including any recent updates to the Code


This is a 12 to 14 month Temporary Full Time position. Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The position may have to travel up to 10% of the time to our various facilities across Alberta. The position is eligible for company benefits.
